Dr. Schreiber was born and raised in Dallas, Texas and graduated from Thomas Jefferson HS. Graduating in three years from The University of Texas with a BA degree, he was accepted to The University of Texas Medical School in Houston. After receiving his MD degree, he was an intern in Austin, Texas. Prior to his specialty training in ophthalmology at the Medical College of Virginia, he was an emergency room physician in the Houston area and in Amarillo, gaining extensive trauma experience.
Tyler has been the Schreiber home since 1979. During this time, Dr. Schreiber has been engaged in solo practice until he became a founding member of EyeCare Associates of East Texas in 1995. He is Board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a member of the Smith County Medical Society, Texas Medical Association, the Texas Ophthalmology Association, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He has served as vice president of the Smith County Medical Society, treasurer of the Texas Ophthalmology Association, a board member of Prevent Blindness, and in 2007 was President of the Texas Ophthalmology Association. He has been President of ECAET since 2007 and currently holds that position.
Dr. Schreiber has stayed abreast of new developments in ophthalmology by taking numerous courses in cataract, laser, glaucoma, oculoplastic and refractive surgery. He has also made several mission trips to Central America to treat the poor in that region. Currently, Dr. Schreiber is specializing in cataract and refractive surgery. He has been using the latest in multifocal implants (ReStor) and astigmatic correcting implants (Toric) for several years with great success.
