Freedom to be and do more.
Imagine being able to see the alarm clock when you wake up.
Imagine giving up the hassles of glasses and the rituals of contact
lens maintenance.
Imagine that whatever your passion (sports, travel, art, or business)
how much more skill you could bring to it, how much more fun you
could have if you didn't have to overcome the ways that glasses
and contacts hamper you. The fogging, the slipping, the lack of
peripheral vision. The discomfort caused by the tiniest speck of
dust in your contacts.
LASIK can enable you to perform better naturally in the
ways that matter most to you.
The Choice of More Doctors - Why have we chosen the VISX laser?
VISX invented the technology for laser vision correction more than
15 years ago. Today, VISX is the choice of more than 70% of eye doctors for
their patients. Plus, thousands of eye doctors and their staffs
have had laser vision correction themselves, and have trusted their
eyes to VISX.
The VISX laser has FDA approval to treat nearsightedness, farsightedness,
and astigmatism. And to use the VISX laser, a doctor must become
VISX certified, which requires a thorough certification process.
That's why more people in the United States have been treated with
the "gold-standard' VISX laser than all others combined. Bottom
line: VISX is the most trusted laser vision correction company.
Now You Know, It's Time to Act
You know that millions of people worldwide are already enjoying
the benefits of Vision by VISX, including thousands of eye doctors
and their staff members. You know that you could be able to do the
things you love better and more easily with Vision by VISX.
You may still need glasses or contacts after laser vision correction.
Talk to your eye doctor today to understand the risks and benefits
of the procedure. As a VISX-certified doctor, he or she can tell
you why Vision by VISX may be right for you.
Technique
The LASIK procedure combines two sophisticated techniques of surgery to correct refractive errors. The first technique involves the use of an automated instrument, the microkeratome, to create a thin protective layer of corneal tissue that covers the area to be sculpted by the laser. This flap allows for rapid recovery of vision and reduces discomfort after surgery. The second technique uses a computer-controlled excimer laser—cool laser—to sculpt the underlying cornea, correcting the refractive error. The protective layer of tissue is repositioned without sutures and is secure after a few minutes so that a patch is not required. Visual recovery is typically rapid, and there is little or no post-operative pain. Eye drops need only to be taken for a week.

"Custom Vue" Lasik
Continuing technological improvements in LASIK have resulted in what is called Custom Vue LASIK.
Custom Vue Lasik is the most highly refined form of Lasik. The laser is not only treating basic refractive errors like myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism, but also treating "high order" errors in the visual system. High order errors are errors in the entire optical apparatus of the eye, not just the cornea. For instance, if there is a small abnormality in the lens of the eye affecting the optical image presented to the retina, the laser will also make an adjustment of that small error in order to create a more perfect image on the retina. To determine these aberrations, a Waveprint scan of the visual system is performed at the laser center prior to your first office visit. Most patients elect to have Custom Vue, even though it is slightly more expensive, because it gives them the best chance of achieving 20/20 or better.
Iris Registration
When you lie down, the eyes tend to rotate slightly towards the nose. Laser treatments might be laid down imperfectly in that situation. In order to avoid that imperfection, a process has been developed during Waveprint analysis of the visual system in which multiple points on the iris surface are identified. At the time of your lasik procedure, the VISX laser computers will translate these points into the treatment so that the laser treatment is laid down precisley as the Waveprint scan has shown the optical defects to be. |
